Master Speaker Series: Suzanne Withrington, Creating a Sustainable Organisation

In a mere 200 years, business and capitalism has transformed the face of the planet for the vast majority of the people. The rapid growth of technology has shrunk time, space and distance. We have become weaved into a fabric of society which extends to the remotest corners of the earth. There is little doubt of the wealth opportunities created by such prosperity, but the question remains – What is the cost to civilisation and how can we protect the planet in the future?

This session will consider the notion of the sustainable organisation, coupled with how entrepreneurial leaders act upon their values to contribute towards society. The session will review the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) and explore how business of any size may contribute to society at large. We will reflect upon the changing face of society; explore differing approaches that mitigate against social challenges and observe emergent business models deemed effective in the quest for responsible leadership.

Suzanne Withrington  is a principal lecturer in enterprise and business engagement at Teesside University in the UK. She is also the Vice Chair of her local Institute of Directors (IoD) branch and a trustee at a local charity. Her areas of expertise include entrepreneurship, philanthropy and sustainability.

Join the lecture on Zoom on Wednesday, November 24, 18:00 CET.
