Friday Show: Photography

25 October @ 16:00 - 17:00

If geographers “draw,” or “write” the earth, psychogeographers add a zest of soul to the mix, linking earth, mind and foot.

“Psychogeography concerns itself with the idea that you have an opinion about “a space” the moment you step into it. This has as much to do with the space as it does with all of the thoughts, feelings, and experiences we have had before arriving “there”. Psychogeographic experiences can be thought of as alternative ways of reading the city. Psychogeographers decode urban space by moving through it in unexpected ways.*

For this Friday show I asked the students to go out and experience the city in new and unexpected ways. I asked them to actively take in their surroundings and to communicate their personal feelings and experiences in a photographic series documenting this experience.
