Uroboros Online Design-Art Festival

Prague College's MA Future Design first year students will be presenting a work in progress project on virtual empathy at online design-art festival Uroboros, launching on 13 May through until 16 May. The festival's theme is Designing in Troubling Times which is rather apt given our global situation.

Prague College School of Business has a great interest in blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies, and encourages all School of Business students to fully engage and investigate the implications that these new technologies will have on business and the economy.

Prague College Final Shows 2020

Our much anticipated graduating student’s Final Art Exhibition shows are soon to begin in the form of virtual exhibitions. With current limitations on social gatherings it was decided that students should plan and create virtual exhibitions online. This obvious challenge has forced our students to rethink how to show their work, leading to many interesting and unique container websites that will be launched live at each show.

An exciting aspect of the new Foundation Diploma in Art, Design and Media Practice programme is the staging of a weekly exhibition called the Friday Show.

With orientation and classes underway, students are taking part in classes through the Digital Campus after a government order for schools and universities to teach all classes online. Despite this, we want to encourage the community to ‘Come Together’ for a series of exciting events and activities, starting with Friday's Welcome Party.

Visiting Artist Lecture: Dita Maleckova ‘Digital Philosopher’

The next VALs digital lecture will feature Dita Malečková, a philosopher, new media theorist and Artificial Intelligence (AI) enthusiast. Dita will be presenting some of her projects that utilise AI machine learning, interestingly combined with philosophical ideas that present from using a contentious technology. By utilising AI technology as an artistic tool, Dita questions how these technologies will shape our future and if they will contribute to the advancement of our evolution.

Visiting Artist Lecture: Victoria Vesna, Alien Star Dust: Signal to Noise

The final VALS lecture for 2020 heads to the stars with Victoria Vesna, a renowned Artist and Professor at the UCLA Department of Design Media Arts and Director of the Art|Sci Center at the School of the Arts and California NanoSystems Institute. The lecture is highly relevant to IT students as well as Art, as Victoria combines art and science to investigate how communication technologies affect collective behaviour and perceptions of identity, in relation to scientific innovation.
