On Thursday 15 April, the Visiting Artist Lecturer will be Carla Diana, a robot designer, technology author and editor who is a lecturer at the MFA programme at Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan, USA.
Carla will talk on the impact of 4D Design, how we are a long way from understanding its impact despite our technological advances. To do so, we need to tinker, explore and prototype data-infused experiences that make the physical world around us unfold over time. Carla argues that students need to question how 4D design will impact interactive objects, clothing, as well as mixed reality and robotics. Those who question and explore 4D design now can really impact and shape the world of tomorrow.
Carla will also take us on a tour of her MFA programme at Cranbrook Academy of Art, as well as offer a sneak peak into her new book ‘My Robot Gets Me: How social design can make new products more human’.
This lecture will take place on zoom and will also be broadcast to Facebook. Audience members are encouraged to participate in a Q&A after the lecture and questions can also be submitted in the chat during the lecture.
