Visiting Artist Lecture Series: Šárka Zahálková

Šárka Zahálková is an independent artist and curator and currently works as the Programme Director of GAMPA – a contemporary art gallery in Pardubice, which recently relocated to the Automatic Mills – a converted industrial space. Šárka has a long-standing interest in art as a tool of social change and art in public spaces. In her talk, she will introduce her approach to work and the different issues when working with public spaces. She will also talk about public art festivals with events that encourage wider participatation.
Šárka studied fine arts (Czech Republic), gallery management (Czech Republic, UK) and curating and commissioning of public art (Sweden). She travelled to NYC on a Fulbright-Masaryk scholarship and has taken part in several international residency projects, for artists, curators and cultural managers. She is currently a PhD candidate at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.
