WORKSHOP DETAILS

Individual Physiotherapy Sessions / Physiotherapy Workshop

Neck, back, headaches and general joint pain and stiffness is an increasing symptom of a sedentary workplace and lifestyle. More and more people are seeking medical services for preventable conditions caused by prolonged positions and repetitive strain from poor ergonomics and lack of proper movement and exercise.

Physiotherapist Marianne Kodlová will provide screenings, education, and tools for both prevention and treatment of such conditions, so you can work, study, or pass the time in front of the computer with less pain and discomfort. Topics will include proper ergonomics, exercises to do while at the computer / work or exercises to do to address any current pains or injuries.

Yoga with Lucie

Join us for a Yoga Class with a qualified instructor as we kickstart our PCU Day of Self-Care and learn more about how you can incorporate yoga practice into your every-day life. No previous experience is required. Please bring your own yoga mat if you have one, wear comfortable clothing and arrive a few minutes early to get settled.

Stress Management Workshop

This workshop will focus on useful techniques for dealing with challenging stressful situations. Together we will explore ways to relieve stress as well as develop effective strategies for coping with stressful situations not only in the school environment but also outside of it. We will try techniques for relaxation and activation and talk about the possible causes of stress and how our brain and body react to it.

The workshop will be led by Klára Kujanová who has worked as a teacher for many years. In the last few years, she has been offering workshops focused on wellbeing, stress management and the trauma informed approach. In her own words: “I offer not only activities but also a supportive environment for the participants of my courses because we all know the stress and we are still learning to cope with it as life brings us new challenges.”

Arts Therapy Workshop – Visual Storytelling

This Visual Storytelling workshop is focused on visual re-framing of personal story/event through the use of a variety of visual media (photography and/or video) and other visual formats (collages and/or installations). Telling a story about ourselves may be one of the most intimate and personal things we can do. Through storytelling, we can come to know who we are in unforeseen ways. We can also create common ground for sharing stories that need to be told. This kind of storytelling needs to be grounded in feelings and experiences. We share our work so we do not foreclose our need to tell our story. We can also start a process of healing, or heal a wound which was buried deep inside us long ago. No previous experience needed.

The workshop will be lead by Dr. Maša Hilčišin – filmmaker, producer, lecturer and scholar, who has been working at PCU since 2009. She holds a BA in Comparative Literature, an MA in European Studies, and a PhD from Masaryk University.

Mindfulness Workshop – Scattered Minds

Are you often distracted – even when not formally diagnosed with attention deficit? Do you struggle with time management, staying focused and connecting with others? In this session we will look at the challenges and deeper causes of being scattered and experience some methods to help us settle our minds, develop more clarity and self-leadership.

The workshop will be led by Alice Buehler who was part of the student services team when PCU was known as Prague College. Alice has always enjoyed meeting with students and supporting them and has been on the path of meditation and contemplation for over 25 years and is trained in meditation instruction and mindfulness in schools, mediation and conflict resolution.

Self-Coaching Strategies with Šárka

In today’s hectic and demanding times, we often forget to focus on ourselves and our needs. In this session you will learn what self-coaching is and what are its benefits. You will get a how-to guide – introduction to some simple self-coaching techniques and how to incorporate them into your life, you will also be able to try one self-coaching technique. In addition to practical tips, you will also come up with some action steps that will help you move toward greater satisfaction in the chosen area of your life.

Šárka Smrčková is a career and personal coach that works with clients who want more in their personal and professional lives. She works with them on their individual goals, which are often related to harmony in work-life balance, motivation, self-esteem and self-worth, or finding their own vision.

Mindfulness Workshop – Compassion to self and others

Transforming aggression – Both ancient wisdom and modern neuroscience tell us that being kind and compassionate to self and others is a way for true happiness. In this session we will discuss the bravery of this approach and ways of connecting to and developing it so that it can be of benefit to self and others even in challenging times.

Ceramic Workshop

Did you know that working with clay has therapeutical effect? It helps with processing emotions, builds self-esteem and enhances problem-solving abilities.
