Master Speaker: Teodor Marjanovic

3 November 2016 @ 17:00

t_marjanovic.jpg.jpgWe are pleased to welcome journalist Teodor Marjanovic to Prague College to give a talk on ‘The Impact of a Trump or Clinton Presidency on the Middle East.’

This presentation covers his experiences as a war reporter, and, secondly, as a reporter covering a U.S. presidential election. ‘These two issues don’t have really much in common,’ he says, ‘but I will try to find a meaningful way how to talk about both, and, possibly, to find a common denominator.
And indeed there is one denominator – in both cases you are, in the case of a Czech reporter, on your own.’

Teodor Marjanovic was born in Belgrade with a Czech mother and a Serbian father, and grew up in Slovenia. After graduating in philosophy from the University of Vienna he entered the world of news media. In 1995 he was one of the first recipients of the inaugural Ferdinand Peroutka prize for journalism.

From 1996 to 1998 he served as editor of the daily MF Dnes with a focus on Germany and later worked at the BBC in London and for the Czech-language weekly Respekt. From 2007 to 2012 Mr Marjanovic was head of foreign news at the Czech daily Mlada Fronta Dnes. He is currently a commentator on foreign policy for the newspaper Hospodářské noviny.

Our speaker is therefore exceptionally well qualified to assess the current situation in the Middle East and the role of the US diplomacy and its foreign policy there.
