Master Speaker Series: John Kroonblawd; Project Management Leadership

16 March 2021 @ 18:00

The first MSS webinar lecture for 2021 (see below), featured John Kroonblawd, an international project manager who has enjoyed a 38 year career in leadership roles across sales, marketing, product development, business development and project management.

John delivered a fascinating lecture on the key principles for leading project teams and how a leader can be successful even in unexpected situations. The talk focussed on leading project teams but the same principles apply to leading any kind of team or groups of individuals.
He further illustrated his points by sharing personal anecdotes from his working career to illustrate these principles.
The lecture is highly relevant to any working professional and students about to embark on their careers, as it’s a common experience to be assigned a project and lead a team of people and to lead an effort in an area where you do not necessarily have expertise, or to lead a project that does not have a clear definition on how it should be accomplished. It’s often the case that we are assigned team members who report to supervisors with objectives outside of our own. These are just some of the areas that John was able to advise and shed light on.
A graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and an International MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University. John is currently working as a contractor for Whirlpool Corporation as a project manager in IoT (Internet of Things), and an adjunct instructor in business at Southwestern Michigan College. John has traveled to over 40 countries in his career, has lived and worked in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Shanghai.
The large global audience that attended the webinar livestream also submitted questions for the Q&A that John generously answered and was moderated by School of Business Head, Dr Stefano Cavagnetto.
We hope that you enjoy the this Master Speaker Series presentation. Please get in touch with us if you have any feedback on this webinar or suggestions for future lectures.
