Event Series Event Series: Movement & Yoga Therapy

Movement & Yoga Therapy

16 October @ 15:30 - 16:30

Free

In this class you will be able to wake up your body, reset your mindset and break out of movement stereotypes that prevent healthy energy flow. Exercise, stretching, proper alignment – all these elements will be present. It will be invigorating and empowering as well as calming and meditative.

This 60-minute class is open to all levels, all faiths, just anyone with an open mind who wants to give themselves the gift of self-care through movement and focus.

The class is taught in English.

Important recommendations:

  • Arrive on time, about 5 minutes before the class starts.
  • Please turn off your mobile phone during the class.
  • It is not recommended to eat (especially heavy meals) at least one or two hours before the class. It is also advisable not to drink during the class (drink before or after the class).
  • Please inform the teacher of any relevant health problems or restrictions (including pregnancy).
  • Always respect your current state of health and ability. Only practise when you are healthy and generally well.
  • At the end of the practice, ALWAYS lie down in shavasana (corpse pose) for at least two minutes.
  • What should I prepare? Bring a mat and/or yoga block. We practise barefoot, in comfortable clothing that allows for movement. Classes usually end with relaxation and meditation, so it is a good idea to bring a scarf, blanket, sweatshirt and/or socks.

Meet your lecturer, Veronika Quinn Novotná:

I teach, study and love yoga, dance and movement in general. I have tried many styles and met many wonderful teachers, but the most influential programme for me was the study of Yoga and
Yoga Therapy at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Charles University. I see my teaching as a holistic and therapeutic-experiential transformative process for the body, mind and soul. I am guided by breath, touch, sound, silence, smell, humour, interaction, kindness and strength. I don’t aim to create “yogis” but to help us all integrate healthy movement principles into our daily lives.

In my life off the mat, I work at PCU as an English Programme Leader in the School of Education. I teach English Linguistics, Creative Writing and specialise in Global Englishes/English as a Lingua Franca.

I am raising/being raised by my two daughters and our mixed-breed mini dog, Pippi.
